CHRISTOPHER RIDGWAY is head curator at Castle Howard, chair of the Yorkshire Country House Partnership, and adjunct professor at the Centre for the Study of Historic Irish Houses and Estates at Maynooth University. He is currently completing a book on Castle Howard.
